Shanghai Jinshan District Government announced today that Shanghai Bright Dairy & Food Co., Ltd. will invest RMB150 million (around US$18 million) to build the country’s largest and most sophisticated cow farm in the Modern Agricultural Park of Jinshan. 

The project will be built on a 500 mu area (approx. 33 hectares), with a farming capacity of 5,000 cows.  The company has engaged Israeli experts to design and plan the project.  Proposals for the peripheral roads and bridges have been completed, and construction will start soon.  The project is listed as a key municipal high-tech agricultural project for the year 2005, which will also become a highlight at the World Dairy Expo to be held in Shanghai in 2006.  When completed, the farm will be able to produce 100 tons of fresh milk per day.
