Shanghai Jinshan District Government announced today that it will inaugurate its ''Meet at the Beach'' activity Series on April 29, 2005, which will continue until the end of October. Over six months, a series of activities will be launched at Jinshan's Beach Volleyball Venue constructed in 2004 where the China leg (Petrochem Cup) of the Swatch-FIVB Women's World Beach Volleyball Tour was successfully hosted in May 2004. The kick-off ceremony starts with an open-air symphony concert performed at the seaside by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra under the leadership of the famous conductor Chen Xieyang.

After the kick-off ceremony, a series of activities will continue over the next six months. These activities include, ''Passionate May,'' which focuses on the China leg of the World Beach Volleyball Tour; ''Free June,'' bringing large performances under the theme of ''Wind Summer Concert Season'' targeted at teenagers; the second annual Jinshan athletics convention that will be held during ''Youthful July;'' ''Joyful August'' that will be comprised of get-togethers organized for community residents and for the People's Army; ''Romantic September,'' aimed at the Jinshan Travel Festival and Jinshan Cultural and Art Festival; and ''Splendid October'' that will be characterized by foreign cultural exchanges.
